Gallery Oldham is Oldham’s art gallery and museum.
We have one permanent collection which tells Oldham’s Stories through art, local history and natural history objects, and three further gallery spaces displaying a regularly changing programme of exhibitions.

Standard workshop £100
Standard in-house workshops last 2 hours and can be booked for the morning or afternoon. Self-guided visits are free but please book in advance with the Education Assistant.
All workshops and self-guided visits should be booked by completing this booking form on Oldham Council’s website. You will then receive an email offering available dates for your visit.

This interactive and immersive workshop replaces What Made Oldham the Biggest Cotton Spinning Town in the World?
Pupils investigate and classify animals using observable features and a key then play interactive games to explore classification and food chains.
Guided by a creative writing facilitator, pupils explore three pieces of art by Oldham artists which depict Ice and Fire then write and perform poetry inspired by the artwork.
Using our natural history handling collection, pupils observe, identify and classify animals.
Pupils explore our exhibitions to discover what jobs people did in Victorian Oldham.
Pupils explore Oldham artist Helen Bradley’s painting, ‘A Summer Afternoon on the Sands at Blackpool’, to learn where and how Oldham people spent their Wakes Week off from work in the mills.
Pupils seek out the hidden shapes and patterns within our building and exhibitions in this artist-led printmaking workshop.
We also offer National Curriculum focused, COVID-secure schools loans boxes to explore independently and enhance in- school teaching over a 10-day loan (£50). All boxes contain real or replica artefacts, images, and information linked to Gallery Oldham’s collection and, where relevant, Oldham itself.
As part of your booking you will also receive via email a link to a topic video on our YouTube page where you can follow a step-by-step creative activity with your class.
