From 11th – 15th of March 2024 Blackburn Museum & Art Gallery will be hosting a special new session called ‘Art in Science’ suitable for KS1-2 students.

Discover how the museum’s art collections are the products of science, technology and creativity with local visual artist and specialised printmaker, Julia Swarbrick.

The theme for British Science Week this year is ‘time’,and the museum is perfectly placed to look back in time at the progression of printmaking in Blackburn!

Your students will reproduce artwork with materials found in most kitchens, the place where art and science meet on an everyday basis! They will learn how lithography is a traditional and modern means of printmaking, used in books, maps and posters and discover early lithographs in our collection.

If your class would be interested in booking a FREE session, then get in touch. Spaces are limited and booked on a first come first served basis.
