Unlock the Power of Real world Learning: A CPD Event for Primary School Teachers

Discover how a visit to a historic house can meaningfully enhance statutory teaching in English, Maths and Science.

Towneley Hall, 5 Nov, 9.30am -3pm

Using Towneley Hall as a rich, practical case study, give your teaching fresh context, spark curiosity and open up new ways for pupils to experience English, Maths and Science in the world around them. You will gain the skills to apply your learning to Towneley and any other heritage site.

This hands on session explores three core strands:

On site learning: Activities, prompts and discussion ideas that help pupils observe, question and engage with a historic house through curriculum linked lenses.

‘Inspired by Towneley’ activities: Simple, adaptable tasks to use before or after a visit, designed to deepen understanding back in the classroom.

Sensory exploration: Guidance on identifying spaces, textures and moments that support sensory seekers and help all learners connect more confidently with heritage environments.

Every attendee will receive include a tailored teacher handbook packed with practical ideas, ready‑to‑use activities, and adaptable frameworks you can bring straight into your planning.

All participants will receive a certificate of participation to add to your CPD record.

This full‑day programme gives you the chance to explore Towneley Hall in depth, connect with fellow educators and gather fresh inspiration for your curriculum planning. Along the way, you’ll enjoy a delicious lunch, plenty of hot drinks and a relaxed atmosphere that encourages conversation, ideas and collaboration.
