Cumbria’s Museum of Military Life

Cumbria’s Museum of Military Life tells the story of Cumbria’s County Infantry Regiment and its soldiers past and present. Get closer to history with a great variety of items including
uniforms, medals, weapons and silver from 1702 to the present day.

THE SECOND WORLD WAR

KS2/3

Introducing the war through the Home Front, this session looks at a soldier’s life through a wide variety of artefacts. How heavy was a soldier’s kit? What did they carry and why? What is it like to wear a helmet? An exciting way to develop historical enquiry skills.

THE FIRST WORLD WAR

KS2/3

From trenches to mess tins, find out about the experiences of a soldier from the local Border Regiment through their kit, uniform and
equipment. An interactive, hands-on session where pupils can get up close and personal with artefacts from WW1.

KS1/2

Why do we remember in November? Find out more about Remembrance through a variety of objects and activities.
